Val and Roddy are back and this time they are in Newport for the summer of 1899. Val becomes entangled in a gruesome homicide while sitting for a portrait at an art gallery.
The discovery of the dead gallery manager in a chilling and bizarre setting thrusts Val into a web of suspicion and intrigue. As she navigates the elite society of Newport in her quest to uncover the truth behind the murder. She faces ostracism and challenges, all the while trying to clear her name and find the real killer.
It blends elements of historical fiction, mystery, and social commentary, offering a glimpse into the complexities of high society and the underbelly of wealth and privilege in the Gilded Age. You will be immersed in this world.
This has been my favorite in the series so far due to the art aspects and I was delighted to see Val's friend Cassie has more of a role in this book. This is the 6th book in the series and I can't wait to see the next adventure that awaits for Val and Roddy!
